Web-based lesson which utilizes the Web 2.0 tools Wetpaint Wiki and Delicious as learners research out a chosen topic to then write an argumentation based on the 5 paragraph essay model. Learners will compile, modify, peer-edit, revise and publish their essays using Wetpaint.

I double checked - using view source to verify the presence of ALT tags - they are there. ALT tags are designed to show when the image does not - my images load up just fine so you won't see the ALT tag unless you view the HTML source.

I was pulled in to want to know more and I could feel the personalization, without knowing you well. Fine Job! Personal Financial planning lesson. Students will create a digital story and collaboratively write a paper in a wiki comparing and contrasting the depression of the 1930's and the current recession. Then the students will use GoogleDocs to create their own Personal Financial Plan.

Just as a message to you about the evaluation, I feel that you are at a disadvantage (before I begin the review process) because you did not use Wiki and it is harder for me to navigate through FrontPage because I am unfamiliar with it. Will I couldn't agree with you more. The point of this activity was to produce a web-based learning activity which you did very effectively. I think the rubric hamstrings reviewers in to looking for things that may not be as important as the content and organization. So in an effort to try to go along with the rubric, some items get marked low. If I had free reign to assess you work, I'd say it was an excellent plan that hit what students need, it was clear, had great teaching resources and I may come back and do the lesson myself. My only comment would be to add in the introduction what your teaching level is so reviewers have some perspective as to who the "customer" is.

Self Evaluation * Aim/Purpose - Expert- The entry page states a quick overview and goals of the assignment. * Lesson Plan/Teacher's Guide/ Instructional Plan - Mastery- I realize I should have used the Taskstream Lesson plan builder to make it much more indepth. * Student Activity Page - Expert- This contains multi channel forms of information, videos, links and assignments. * Parent Page - N/A. I don't teach children, but rather adults. As such I don't have a parents page. I do think I should have included a "stakeholders" page for the student, teachers and administrators, but I would have it tied with the lesson plan. * Layout - Expert- I am using wetpaint wiki, and it makes the layout extremely simple and straight forward. * Navigation - Expert- Each page has its own link on the menu page, and all are accessable from any page in the site. * Graphics - Expert- There are only 2 pictures which are for Delicious and wetpaint, but it also includes several sets of videos which help explain the material.. * Accessibility - N/A. This is a wetpaint wiki and as such it does not support accessbility. The issue I have is that part of this unit is about how to use wiki's and delicious... if you make universial accessible css pages, they are NOT interactive like a wiki. * Fonts- Expert- Fonts are consistent and simple. * Background- Expert- Consistent and simple. * Color Choices- Expert- Colors are consistent and simple on all pages. * Spelling and Grammar- Expert- There are no errors. * Copyright- Mastery- All borrowed material is cited, but I don't know if citations are done correctly. Great work!! Your project fits well in a 3rd grade classroom and it is a topic students will be very interested in. Rachell I have completed a review of your lesson plan wiki. I love the idea of having a class site that assignments are posted, I use a Google Doc website, but only attach my assignments. The lesson looks clear, I'm just worried that as you ask the student to open a link, they now cannot read the directions. My high school kids get lost when I do that. Wikis make putting lessons online easy and clear and your links and formatting were basic but very effective. I struggled on mine using Dreamweaver. Over all, nice job. I will post your rubric, as soon as I figure it out.

Well in review I can certainly see I have more than just much to learn about development of lesson plans. Your though ness in thought and design are staggering to me. I was struggling with the technology, and had no concept of what lesson plans looked like. This is another very impressive and humbling to lesson plan. Excellent work! The only problem noted was a link issue with Oregon Pioneers By Stefanie Flora, my computer could not open it, and I been having a lot of problems of that nature.

Misty, I really enjoyed the lesson on weather. I was just a little confused about the KidPix part of the lesson since I couldn't find it in the student activities pages. I can believe this would be a great lesson for the students and the Parent activities were great. Great job!! Virginia Aim/Purpose -- The entry page tells what the Aim/Purpose of the lesson is to the student - Mastery Lesson Plan - Link to the lesson plan is included and it works -- Mastery Student Activity Page -- The student activity pages describe learning activities in age appropriate language. The rubric is for a lesson on KidPix, but I didn't see anything in the student activities for KidPix. Copies of grading rubrics are available. - Mastery. It is great Student Activity Page-Expert-the activity page shows a very good set of activities. Parent Page-Novice-There is a parents page, but it is empty. In your case you teach 5th graders so I do believe a parents page is necessary. Layout-expert. the page is very nicely laid out. there are no glaring colors, or distracting locations. I cannot access any of the other pages except through Haiku 2.0 (unless I use the site map). With that said, i realllllly like this project. I think it would be fun to do with my kids. I wish the page itself was more interactive.

Thanks Will! I know I need a parent page :( I struggled with what to put on that page since technology is something most of my parents do not have access to, plus I need it to be in PSanish as well. Before I use this in my classroom I plan on getting that up and running. I agree that videos about haikus would be very beneficial- thanks for the suggestion!

This is another well done page, leaving me in realization how feeble my skills are with technology of this nature. What an excellent concept to introduce the global team concept, something they may very well be doing in the future. All the links work, they secondary sites are excellent sources. Fun filled website to learn all about chocolate. By the end of the unit the students will have created a chocolate cookbook that will be uploard to the internet for all to see. This site is geared toward third graders.

Michaela- Great job! I think with a few tweaks you will have a powerful learning tool on your hands. My biggest complaint is some of the color choice for fonts- but it is minor and easily fixed. -Melissa Aim/Purpose-Novice- There is a statement about the page being used for collaboration, but I would of liked to have seen more about the aim/purpose relating to the aspect of Women's Suffrage. This may be something that is discussed in class, but if another teacher wanted to use it, this would be unclear.
